What to Pack for the Feeding Mama – Summer Vacay

Planning a sun-filled beachy vacay away is incredibly exciting. Planning what to wear as a new breastfeeding mama, however, can leave many mums feeling anxious or even alarmed. With clothes from the past not fitting like they used to and needing to nurse your little one, packing for your vacation becomes a lot more complicated.

Don’t worry, we at Peachymama will have you feeling cool and stylish on your next trip with this packing checklist below:

Take Your Time Choosing Swimwear

The majority of us don’t bounce back to our pre-pregnancy shape for months (or ever!), and even if we do, our bodies have often changed. Our first tip for choosing swimwear is to select pieces that have structure. Body slimming features and solid bust support are must-haves for postpartum baby mamas.

Another tip is to choose swimsuits that are patterned. These draw the eye away from areas you may not feel so confident about while also highlighting your new curves.

As a breastfeeding mum, access to the breast is incredibly important. Whether it’s easy to pull up, pull down, or move to the side, this is important as your little one will likely want to have a drink or two while you’re at the beach, by the lake, or lounging by the pool.

Pick a Bra That Breathes

Is there anything more uncomfortable than wearing a sweat-soaked bra?

Our Peachymama Bamboo Nursing Bras are the perfect bra for hot summer days. The fabric has a lot of stretch, offers full support with no underwire, and the breathable bamboo material is naturally anti-bacterial!

Take Along Some Tanks

Speaking of bamboo, Peachymama now has a line of Bamboo breastfeeding tanks that are light and breathable. What we love about tanks is that they make for a perfect layering option when the weather turns cooler in the fall and winter!

Choose Chic Shoes, Sandals and Flip Flops

Show off your beautifully pedicured feet with a pair of on-trend sandals, flip flop and shoes! Mules have made quite the comeback, and strappy sandals are always a solid choice for summer.

Look for shoes with metallic colors (especially gold), weaving and unique accents this season. Sporty sandals are also going to be a hit this season, and you can never go wrong with a pair of fashionable boat shoes.

Go For Attractive Sun Protection

Breastfeeding mamas will appreciate the extra shade a floppy hat provides. Not only will a floppy hat protect your skin from the sun’s damaging UV rays, but it will also provide shade to your little one as you nurse.

A cute cover-up is a great way to protect yourself from the sun, and it literally allows you to “cover up” if you’re feeling self-conscious when nursing your bub. Kaftans, beach kimonos, and sarongs are all great choices. So are some of our dresses here at Peachymama, including our Ruffle Nursing Wrap Dress - Green Floral and our Tunic Nursing Dress - Golden Yellow.

Pick Up Some Adorable Sun Dresses

Dresses are not only cute. They’re light and airy, making them a go-to piece for summer days.

Peachymama has a wide selection of breastfeeding dresses that are as pretty as they are functional. Our nautical Teal Stripe Breastfeeding Tank Dress is great for those days by the sea, and our Pink Floral Tie Front Nursing Dress is charming and flattering for every body shape.

Another dress we absolutely love for the summer is our Midi Nursing Dress, coming in Rose and Blue Floral, this breezy dress will keep you cool and comfortable on even the steamiest of summer days.
