Breastfeed To Help Lose Baby Weight

Breastfeed To Help Lose Baby Weight

Most of us try not to think about the weight gain we experience during our pregnancies. We know it is inevitable, but in the back of our minds we are conscious too that our bodies will take time to get back to normal following the birth of our babies. Take comfort in knowing that breastfeeding will assist you in losing that post pregnancy weight.

Burning Calories

An example of breastfeeding weight loss in action is Model/Businesswoman Caprice Bourret. Bourret was able to lose almost 7 kilos in short order while breastfeeding her two infant sons.

Bourret had difficulty bringing a baby to full term. After three miscarriages she decided to hire a surrogate mother only to find shortly thereafter that she herself was pregnant. Talk about when it rains it pours! The 42 year old first time mom found herself with two infant sons and a hectic lifestyle began.

With the blessing of two beautiful boys, Jax and Jett, she found that she was in high demand, breastfeeding each boy 20 minutes, seven times a day. Bourret credits her quick weight loss following the birth of her son to the fact that you can burn as much as 500 calories per day breastfeeding. With two sons at her breast she was actually burning 1000 calories per day.

Model Breastfeeders

Bourret is not the only famous face that is singing the praises of breastfeeding to provide nutrition to their infants as they allow their bodies to return naturally to their pre-pregnancy weight. Model Gisele Bundchen who made sexy Ombre hair colour popular, thinks it should be ‘the law’ to breastfeed.

Breastfeeding not only provides the perfect food for your infant it also triggers hormones in your body that allows it to more quickly return to its pre-pregnancy state. It also helps your uterus to shrink which rids you of that oh-so-unattractive “pouch”.
